OUR HISTORY

The Santiam Canyon Stampede was established in 1997 as a PRCA sanctioned rodeo. Following the 1999 season the rodeo was purchased by the community and re-organized as a nonprofit corporation. The reorganization produced the Stayton/Sublimity Rodeo Association, Inc. as the new owner of the Santiam Canyon Stampede.

The end of the 2010 season saw another change for the Stampede. The Stampede made the move to become an NPRA sanctioned rodeo starting in 2011 rodeo season.

The Stayton and Sublimity communities have a rich civic history of local residents joining together time and time again to raise the funds or resources required to fulfill a community need. Our rodeo was established for the purpose of building on that long standing tradition, strengthening the community through volunteerism. The efforts of the volunteers, that make our event possible, will become the rewards of the entire community. In addition to any money that is distributed by the rodeo association to other local nonprofit organizations, we also give donations of Rodeo Tickets and other Stampede items to groups for use in their fundraising efforts. With the Santiam Canyon Stampede continuing to prosper, so will the sport of rodeo, our community, and its residents.
